How do you say seal in French

One of the most random questions we’ve been emailed recently is, how do you say seal in French?

We are not sure if this coincides with it being April the 20th and the word for seal in French is Joint or if there is anything behind it.

The question wasn’t very specific, so as in English there are many words for seal in French.

Seal as in ‘I will seal the envelope’ would be ‘je vais sceller l’enveloppe’

Seal as in the animal who lives in the sea is ‘phoque’  pronounced a bit like you’d pronounce meet them fockers.

Then there is wax seal, usually seen on posh letters as a seal of approval which is translated as ‘cachet de cire’

If anyone can shed some light as to why we would have received the same email a few times with regards to the question we’d be very grateful.
